The Swift Water Rescue project builds training facilities in North Carolina to help emergency responders practice lifesaving skills in realistic flood conditions. The general contractor encountered challenges with forming and pouring the concrete river walls and determined that utilizing the shotcrete process would be more cost-effective and time-saving. Consequently, 14,800 square feet of river walls were constructed using 8” thick structural shotcrete. A semi-textured finish was applied to these walls to enhance foot traction, facilitating safer access for rescue teams climbing from the river's edge.
