For a rail-corridor slope in Dana Point, Boulderscape made new reinforcement disappear into the old hillside — sculpting 33,000 square feet of architectural shotcrete into a Corona Granite finish, delivered in 15 days at 37% below traditional construction.

A slope along a rail corridor required stabilization while maintaining the natural appearance of the surrounding landscape. Because the reinforced section would be directly adjacent to untreated hillside, the finished slope needed to blend seamlessly with the existing terrain. Boulderscape's Corona Granite finish was selected to replicate the area's native rock formations and minimize the visual impact of the slope reinforcement system.
Boulderscape hand sculpted the Corona Granite finish across the reinforced slope, incorporating natural fractures, relief, and rock textures that mirrored the adjacent hillside. A medium earth stain was applied to complement the surrounding soils and create a natural transition between the stabilized and existing slope.
The project encompassed 32,734 square feet of slope surface consisting of a 6" thick structural shotcrete section with an average 3" thick architectural relief over a slope reinforcement system using a 5,000 PSI mix design. The entire scope was completed in just 15 days, delivering a durable slope stabilization solution that blended seamlessly into the surrounding environment. 37% under traditional cast in place construction.
