At Mulberry Farms, Boulderscape worked closely with the drilling contractor to create a soil nail wall that more closely reflected the character of the surrounding landscape. By shaping the wall face with pronounced undulations and increased relief, the finished product achieved the appearance of a natural rock formation rather than a conventional retaining wall.
To complement the local geology, Boulderscape developed a custom architectural finish known as French Broad Granite. The hand sculpted finish incorporated deep relief, natural exfoliation patterns, and detailed textures inspired by the granite formations found throughout the region. Heavy speckling was integrated into the design to replicate the mica rich appearance and subtle sparkle characteristic of native stone.
The project encompassed 6,100 square feet of wall surface consisting of a 2" thick structural shotcrete section with an average 3" thick architectural relief over a soil nail wall system using a 4,000 PSI mix design. The entire scope was completed in just 5 days, delivering a retaining wall that blended naturally into the surrounding environment while providing long term slope stabilization.
