For the Mill Creek Apartments development, the owner sought a retaining wall finish that was economical, durable, and visually clean. Rather than incorporating a heavily sculpted architectural treatment, the project called for a simple Class A finish that would provide a uniform appearance while remaining cost effective.
Boulderscape constructed the wall using structural shotcrete and applied a thin 1/8" thick sponge float render coat to create a smooth, consistent surface. The finish provided a clean architectural appearance while maintaining the durability and performance benefits of a structural shotcrete wall system.
The project encompassed 9,300 square feet of wall surface consisting of a 9" thick structural shotcrete section over a soil nail wall system using a 4,000 PSI mix design. The entire scope was completed in just 4 days, delivering a durable and economical retaining wall solution with a high quality Class A finish.
