The owner wanted the multi tiered soil nail wall behind the Lord & Taylor store to complement the stone veneer used throughout the building façade. To create a unified architectural appearance, Boulderscape adapted its Connecticut Ashlar finish, refining the proportions, joint layout, and coloration until the wall closely matched the building's masonry.
Once approved, Boulderscape hand sculpted the finish across the entire wall system and applied a warm autumn color palette to further integrate the retaining wall with the surrounding architecture. The result was a cohesive design in which the wall and building appeared as a single coordinated development rather than separate elements.
The project encompassed 11,944 square feet of wall surface consisting of a 10" thick structural shotcrete section with an average 1" thick architectural relief over a soil nail wall system using a 5,000 PSI mix design. The entire scope was completed in just 7 days, delivering a durable retaining wall solution that complemented the project's architectural character while providing long term slope stabilization.
