The retaining wall system at Cypress Greens was developed through several years of collaboration between Boulderscape and the residential developer, resulting in a multi tiered design featuring two distinct architectural finishes. The lower wall was finished with Boulderscape's San Diego Ashlar pattern, creating an attractive architectural element that complemented the surrounding homes and community streetscape.
The upper wall received Boulderscape's Cypress Granite finish, hand sculpted to replicate the appearance of natural rock formations. To further integrate the structure into the landscape, deep fractures, ledges, and crevices were incorporated into the finish to provide natural attachment points for climbing vegetation. As the plantings mature, the wall continues to soften visually and blend into its surroundings.
The project encompassed 12,522 square feet of wall surface consisting of a 15" thick structural shotcrete section with an average 2" thick architectural relief over a combination soldier pile and soil nail wall system using a 5,000 PSI mix design. The entire scope was completed in just 6 days, delivering a durable retaining wall solution that combined structural performance with long term architectural integration into the community landscape.
