As part of the expansion of the left field area at Camden Yards, a new retaining wall was required to support additional fill within one of the most recognizable ballparks in professional baseball. The project demanded precise construction, a high quality architectural appearance, and minimal disruption to ongoing stadium operations.
Boulderscape constructed the retaining wall using structural shotcrete and applied two distinct finishes to meet the project's aesthetic requirements. The exterior face received a Class A Sponge Float finish, while the stadium facing side was finished to a smooth Class A Steel Trowel surface, providing a clean appearance for fans and visitors.
The project encompassed 3,310 square feet of wall surface consisting of 8" thick and 12" thick structural shotcrete sections with an average 1" thick architectural relief over a soil nail wall system using a 5,000 PSI mix design.
